It has an EXCEPT built-in command: EXCEPT (*.mdx *.dbo) archivecmd -add stuff.arc *.* will work for any "archivecmd" (or any other command, for that matter). And there also is another solution (especially if you are using some other archiver). It is a small utility called no.com, and is used like no thisfile.bat pkpak u arch *.bat It is available by anonymous ftp from chyde.uwasa.fi as (/pc/pd2/) no.zip. As you can figure out, it is useful for other, similar purposes as well. What it actually does is to make the file temporarily hidden for the duration of the command line. ................................................................... I remember having this problem a long time ago and solved it by archiving everything and then writing a batch file to delete the unwanted files from the archive. This is convenient only if the number of unwanted files is small and the names are specifically known. One of the later pkzip versions has a -x switch to exclude files from the archive.
