I've seen the same thing under other circumstances, the problem was the way
that tabs were handled. I fixed it in the termcap file, but that was some
time ago, and I forget the exact details. The man termcap stuff on BSD U*IX
was all I needed to find the fix, + a few spare hours to read it...
