[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] REQUEST: Help with xxx.SOU "audio" files

ronald@xenna.encore.com (Ron Skoletsky) (06/13/90)

I recently downloaded a file that consisted of files ending
with an extension of .SOU . The files are supposedly sounds that
were digitized from television. Is there some type of sound "viewer"
for the PC analagous to a graphics viewer that I could get somewhere?
	Thanks in advance,

When I converted the Mac sounds for the PC, I stuck a .SOU on them
so everyone knows that it is a sound file that can be used by
REMAC. To listen to the sounds, get REMAC1.ZIP from
wuarchive.wustl.edu (not sure what directory tho...) or from
	 terminator.cc.umich.edu in the /msdos/sound directory.
I'm also told that you can use files ending in a .SND (Atari ST) but
I had some problems with the sampling rate. It was either too fast or
too slow. Any files with a .BIN (Mac sort-of-converted) can also be
used, but there are some annoying clicks at the beginning and end of
sounds because of some information that REMAC just thinks is sound
	 data.
