[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] ZOO, please

mat@emcard.UUCP (W Mat Waites) (07/25/90)

Could someone please send me a uuencoded ZOO program, or point me
as to where to get it? I don't have FTP access by the way.

Also, I only got parts 1 and 2 of the recent unix utilities post.
Should have been 15 or 16 parts, right?
Please mail me the rest if possible.

Thanks,

Mat

  Suggestion on asking for things:

	1. don't ask for mail of 16 parts of a program. Ten people will
send them and you will waste bandwidth.

	2. don't assume that you link is instant, and the moment I post
something it shows up in your news. Wait a few days before
asking for stuff, since delays happen.

	3. one of the functions of a moderator is to control the volume.
To do this I post a few parts every day, rather than blow
away my comm links by trying for a record.

	4. The per-day volume is high right now to catch up with the
backlog while I was out. Since I see that it's coming in
faster than I can post, I'm going to cut back in a week or
	   so.

	5. This group takes time in relation to the number of
programs (not size), and I'm getting a lot of small
stuff. I'm going to cut back to 8 hours a week to
prepare stuff, and what I get done is all that goes
out. Reviewing takes time, if I get stuff
in a reasonable format with a good description I can
	   do a lot more.

The better way to handle having missed one or more parts of a
multi-part posting is to post a message asking for people who _did_
get all of a multipart post, and are willing to mail you your
missing pieces, to send you mail; from the email you get you can
pick one person to actually send you the pieces. The other people get
"Thank you, but I have already found a source for my missing pieces"
reply.
