In seeing that my Infoplus program was recently posted on c.b.i.p., I would like to mention a few things. First, I am now up to version 1.21. This adds detection of several VGA cards (paradise, video 7, ATI, along with extra info on them,) better counting of files available, and some other bug fixes. I should also point out that I am having SEVERE problems with the CPU identification routines. Although it works fine with every computer I can try, I've received numerous messages that it locks others up. 1.0 and 1.1 used an 'invalid opcode' method. In 1.2, I returned to the original code that tried setting certain bits in the Flags. In 1.21, I'm trying turning off interrupts during that time, in case that's the problem. If anyone has some reliable code, please let me know. I do not have FTP access, so if anyone should want the latest version, it'll have to be via e-mail. It's approximately 110K as a uuencoded ZIP, requiring at least 2, and maybe 3 parts. I'm constantly working on the program right now, so 'upgrades' are extremely frequent. I'm really waiting to get a hold of the new INterrupt list (I sent a request to listserv@vm1.nodak.edu, so I should hopefully have it in a few days.) I want to get the DPMI detection working. I've received many of your requests for an updated version of Infoplus. I'll also send a copy to SIMTEL 20. The only problem is that a major mail router for this area is having problems, and I can't get any normal mail out. Please be patient. Andrew Rossmann andyross@ddsw1.MCS.COM
