[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] NNANSI.SYS Beta Testers Wanted

toma@tekgvs.LABS.TEK.COM (Tom Almy) (08/29/90)

NNANSI.SYS is an "improved" version of NANSI.SYS (by Daniel Kegel), which
in turn is an "improved" version of ANSI.SYS. NNANSI.SYS has extra features
and much enhanced speed over the others. It only works on EGA/VGA equiped
systems.

NNANSI.SYS has a "fast mode" which vastly improves scrolling speeds.
The problems with "fast mode" proved too much, so now I have a version
where fast mode can be switched on and off so that programs such as Windows 3,
Borland Turbo C++ utilities, and ??? will work. This means that multiple
page support is added. I've also added background color selection in
graphic modes, and reduced the number of compilation options. This new
version will run "Nethack" flawlessly in 640x350 graphics mode! I've made
some radical changes, but it doesn't appear to be buggy.

Anyway I'm looking for people to test this code before I post it. The
benefits of beta testing is that you get the new release faster.
Requirements of Beta testers:

1. Willing to test operation with lots of programs that use various display
   modes.
2. Willing and able to test operation in any and all "enhanced" modes the
   display adapter is capable.
3. Beta testers must have either Turbo Assembler or Microsoft Assembler,
recent versions. There may be some dificulty with MASM, and if so, I
   need a report.
4. Willing to report back on any problems.

I'd also like to hear from anybody currently using NNANSI that has discovered
any bugs, particularly with operation with unsupported display adapters.
