[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] COBOL Compiler

brb@pandora.cs.wayne.edu (Brent Baas) (08/29/90)

The students of the COBOL class that I've been mercilessly
assigned to teach have to use a version of WATBOL which
resides on the campus' mainframe. Not only is access
to this compiler difficult, hardcopies must be sent to
a central printer, and the students have to pay for anytime
spent on the system.

It would be of immense aid to both them and myself if a
low-cost COBOL compiler was available for the pc.

If you're aware of such a godsend, please reply asap. The
class starts next week.  Thanks.

       I believe wuarchive.wustl.edu has a shareware COBOL compiler for the
PC in /mirrors/msdos/cobol. (If it's mot on wuarchive, try
terminator.cc.umich in /msdos/cobol.)

I've seen something called "COBOL600.ZIP" on a BBS system in Boston,
Channel 1 - (617) 345-0470 - but I don't know how good it is.
