The comp.binaries.ibm.pc "starter kit" is available via email by sending a piece of mail containing the single line send starter.kit to rjc@math.princeton.edu. While you're at it, you might also want to grab a copy of the Frequently Asked Questions by sending the message send faq.csip to the same address. (I might turn this article into a periodic posting if people think it'd be useful as such.)
