[Apologies if you've seen this; our news feed was broken and I am fairly sure that the original posting (90/09/10) did not leave the site.] Greetings, helpful readers. Here are three desiderata that I have not been able to unearth at the usual archive sites. If you know of an anonymous FTP location that can provide any of these, I would greatly appreciate a (posted or mailed) reply. 1) A screen capture utility that captures the TEXT mode contents of the screen as a GRAPHIC image. In other words, I want to run an application that uses no graphics, snap the screen, and import the result into a user manual as a figure -- scaling and cropping along the way, of course. It would be acceptable to treat all characters as black and all backgrounds as white, although a selectable mapping from background colors to fill patterns would be ideal. I will not be picky about the image file format. 2) A barcode printing program. I've seen several of these in shareware catalogs, but so far none available via FTP. 3) Clip art images of: a PC keyboard; a PC (front view); a PC (back view); a PC with its skins off. B&W images, or even line drawings, would be fine. Thanks in advance, -- Jonathan C.
