Can someone tell me where I can find something that describes the format
of a ZIP file?
Thanks in advance,
   Randy Jones

If you have the complete pkzip distribution archive (the self extracting
EXE file), then you should have it already. There's a text file there
with the information you want. It also contains some of the pertinent
algorithms.

P.S. The above is true for release 1.10. I'm not sure if it's true for
the earlier releases.

The original distribution file for PKZip (current version is PKZ110.EXE or
PKZ110EU.EXE, if you believe in US export control regulations) contains
a full documentation of reading and extracting Zip format files. It does
NOT contain a description of how to create one, though :-(

But I hear someone, somewhere is already working on that. Keep it up...

Randy,

Unable to reply via e-mail. Your mail bounces. You asked for
documentation on ZIP files. There is a text file in the shareware
version of pkz110.exe called appnote.txt. I believe it contains all
the information that you are asking for. If you or anyone else is
interested in receiving this file send your request via e-mail and
include a valid e-mail address.
