[net.games.trivia] old macdonalds' theme

wendy@houem.UUCP (08/23/83)

here's a question i've been asking all summer (i don't know the
answer):

does anybody remember the *real* words to the old "macdonalds is
your kind of place" jingle? everybody i've asked remembers the
"hack" words:

macdonalds is your kind of place
	hamburgers in your face
	pickles up your nose
	french fries between your toes
macdonalds is your kind of place!

we all thought that was pretty funny when i was twelve (ten?
eight?) -- i guess that's why nobody remembers the original words.
it's no wonder that ad campaign didn't last long.

i deserve a break today --

First of all wendy, it seems like you must be doing some spying asking about
McDonalds, but we shall leave that debate for another time (net.flame can
get to it after they resolve "war is bad.") Be that as it may, I don't
remember the original McDonalds jingle, but I do remember a Hollywood pro-
duction number where they were cleaning the joint:

Grab the bucket and mop.
Scrub the bottomand top.
There is nothing so clean,
as my burger machine.

When it's over what then?
Start all over again.
Tell me what does it mean?
At McDonalds it's clean.

And who wrote the "you deserve a break" jingle?

Everyone knows BArry Mannilow (sp?) wrote the "You deserve a
break today" theme.

No comments about Barry M. are neccessary.

What's this? Out here the "hack" verse was
McDonald's is your kind of place
They slap you in the face
They take your parking place
They serve you rattlesnakes
McDonald's is your kind of place
If you like rattlesnakes
Your kind of place!

As for the "real" words, though, I haven't the foggiest.

If I remember correctly, Barry Manilow wrote the jingle for the old
MacDonalds theme. He also wrote several other themes such as the
old Bandaids theme, Kentucky Fired Chicken, and many more.

McDonalds is your kind of place
Hamburgers in your face
French fries between your toes
Dill pickles up your nose
And dont' forget those famous shakes
Made from polluted lakes
McDonalds is your kind of place!!

No, no, no!!!!! Here's what we used to sing back when I was working at
a McDonald's in high school(how many of you out there would admit to working
there???)

	Hold the pickles,
	Hold the lettuce,
	Special orders do upset us,
	All we ask,
	Is that you
Let us "Serve It Our Way",
	Have it our way,
	Have it our way,
	At Burger Queen

I'll admit it. I worked at McDonald's for 9 months in high school.

When you are 16 years old and have never worked anywhere before,
it's a great job to get you started. They work you so hard that
other places will hire you on the knowledge that you will be
glad to work at a job that's the slightest bit easier and requires
any thinking at all. Also, they know you won't expect more
than 10 cents a year in raises.
