ON TO NEW TOPICS - name the author of these lyrics, and the show in which they appear: Hello, I come with letters from he majesty, Victoria Who hearing how you're trading now says "hallelulia Gloria" And sent me to convey to you her positive euphoria As well as little as little gifts from Britain's various emporia. If you guess G & S, you're on the right track, but reeeeeal cold. If you guess correctly, you're not finished. Give the next two verses. Tom Dennehy BTL Whippany {floyd!tgd}

Congrats to all who identified the fragment from Pacific Overtures. The complete text is: Hello, I come with letters from her majesty, Victoria Who hearing how you're trading now says hallelulia Gloria. And sent me to convey to you her positive euphoria As well as little gifts from Britain's various emporia. Her letters do contain a few proposals to your emperor Which if of course he won't endorse will put her in a temper, or But happily should he agree would serve to keep her placider At least 'til I am followed by a permanent ambassador. Her majesty considers the arrangements to be tentative Until we ship a proper diplomatic representative We don't foresee that you will be the least big argumentative so please ignore the man o' war we brought as a preventative. (BLAM) Back to the cartoons, already in progress. Tom Dennehy BTL Whippany {flopyd!tgd}

No More Mr. Nice Guy dept: To all who guessed the Pacific Overtures question, it's crowbar time: 1) Name the show (easy part) How many performances did its first run last (slightly harder) Me and my town, battered about Everyone in it would love to get out Me and my town, we just wanna be loved. Stores are for rent, theaters are dark Grass on the sidewalk, but not in the park Me and my town, we just wanna be loved. (Hint: Angela Lansbury sang it) 2) Name the show (easy part) Name the authors (all of 'em) A ladybug on my toe who just woke me up, that's you. Italian meals in ferris wheels These are you, like papaya peels. The sound of one piano played in a well, that's you. A snowman asleep in the shade in june without his hat, that's you. You are that thing so rare, long dreamed but seldom there. A scene from my mind, beautiful but hard to find. You are that thing unique, dreamed from afar, For years I have imagined you, now here you are. (Hint - a later lyric - As we just discussed we must adjust this bust to bust on cue) Back to the Mcdonald's theme, already in progress. Tom Dennehy BTL Whippany {floyd!tgd}
