We are very pleased at the popularity chyde.uwasa.fi has gained as an archive site for PC programs. At best we have had over five hundred ftp guests at our site (above all from US, Canada, Australia, Finland, and other European countries), and the mail server requests on top of that. This popularity is not, however, without its problems since it naturally is a strain on the resources. Disk space has become one of the problems, since chyde.uwasa.fi is literally our main frame and used for many other purposes besides storing the archives. Fortunately, there is going to be a solution in the form of a new workstation-type of a machine where the archives will be moved in some near future. In due time this will mean a pause in your services because of transferring the system to the new machine and getting it going. (The exact the time table is still slightly open). This will most probably also mean some changes in the addresses and usages. There is another problem which is beyond our direct control. That is the load on the lines from Vaasa. We can only hope that the powers that be will eventually include Vaasa in their plans for faster lines and alternative direct routings within the Finnish net. (Hint.
