Recently there was a discussion of vi clones for MS-DOS machines, and one of the recommended editors was `Stevie'. Right now, I know there are at least three different versions of `Stevie': the "Original Version 3.69", an offshoot called "Version 3.7", and a Japanese one called "Jstevie 1.3". My question is, are there any others, and which one is everybody using? The one I use for my Toshiba J3100SS (equivalent to the T1000) is Jstevie. Jstevie 1.3 is based on the original Version 3.69, and adds the mapping and abbreviation functions, a better undo, and faster screen updates. It is also possible to edit Japanese text and supports various kanji front-end processors (FEPs). In addition to MS-DOS, it works with UNIX, and OS/2. The sources and binaries for PC-clones and NEC PC-98 series are available for anonymous FTP from utsun.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp [133.11.11.11]. =============================================================================== Eric Edward Bowles Dept of Information Science, Faculty of Science University of Tokyo, 7-3-1 Hongo, Bunkyo-ku bowles@is.s.u-tokyo.ac.jp Tokyo, JAPAN 113. +81-3-812-2111 x4096
