There are several shareware/freeware Un*x-like shells out there, but not one with everything I want. I would like something that looks like csh (or cmucsh or tcsh) but a Bourne shell from sys V with aliasing and command-line editing will do. MS_SH162 lacks aliasing but has all (or most) of the Bourne shell features (it is modeled from sys III). CSHELL131 has aliasing, command-line editing, and switchchar changing, but none of the piping (but, it's free!). 4DOS has some of these features, but I don't know how much it sticks to Un*x conventions. Also, what are the differences/preferences between the three (that I know about) Un*x-like utility packages: PICNIX3, UXUTL163, and the Gnuish FUTIL? I use Un*x at work (sigh, I prefer Multix-type OS's), and I'm trying to get a orthogonal environment across the systems I use. Please mail resonses, I will post summary. (Please, no "I want to know, too" mail, I WILL post a summary.) Thanks in advance. -Elliot __ Elliot Mednick (elliot@encore.com) | This .signature file is undergoing Encore Computer Corp. | remodeling for your convenience.
