[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] wanted: head & tail for DOS

sophist@brainiac.raidernet.com (Phillip McReynolds) (11/03/90)

I'm familiar with the pcnix unix-like utilities for MS-DOS, but to my
knowledge, these utilities do not include a 'head' or 'tail'. Where
might one find something like this? I've checked filutls on simtel and
didn't find anything.

Please email replies to:

pam1@ra.msstate.edu <or> the address in the .sig

Thanks,
sophist

Did you try these?

You might also try the MS-DOS port of GNU file utilities, which may be
found in file futil14.zoo in any GNUdos archive. Ported GNU file
utilities are: CAT, CHMOD, CMP, CP, CUT, DD, HEAD, LS/DIR/VDIR, MKDIR,
MV, PASTE, RMDIR, TAC, TAIL, TOUCH and RM. These are (more than :-)
full fledge implementations of their UNIX counterparts, as long as
MS-DOS permits!

The collection of programs known as the GNUish MS-DOS project is
available for ftp at the following addresses:

	vulcan.phyast.pitt.edu [130.49.33.16], in pub/pc/gnudos.
	ocf.berkeley.edu [128.32.184.254], in pub/GNU/gnuish-msdos.
	wsmr-simtel20.army.mil [26.2.0.74], in pd2:<msdos2.gnuish>.
	funic.funet.fi [128.214.6.100], in pub/msdos/gnudos.

Thorsten Ohl <td12@ddagsi3.bitnet> made most of the ports, and
moderates the project.
