[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] PKZIP 1.20 - does it exist?

esaholm@polaris.utu.fi (Esa Holmberg) (12/21/90)

        Hello netlanders!

I found from a local BBS a package that claimed to be PKZIP
version 1.20. I don't remember to have seen anyone mention it
here, nor do I believe the package to be v 1.20.

I downloaded it and checked it for viruses. None found with SCAN
        72. But the file sizes appeared to be exactly the same as in
version 1.10. All documents spoke about 1.20 and what's new in
it compared to version 1.02. There was no mention about version
1.10 anywhere, nor was there any comparison between 1.10 and
        1.20.

I also compared the files. PKUNZIP.EXE 1.20 differed in three
bytes from 1.10, PKZIP.EXE had more differences.

I don't know what the programs would do - I didn't think it
would be safe enough to run them..

Is there already PKZIP 1.20, or is this a hacked one?
