[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] less pain in mailing and repost

davidsen@sixhub.UUCP (Wm E. Davidsen Jr) (01/03/91)

As you all know, I request people to ask for mailing of missing parts
by posting to cbip.d. People who send mail to me often get a form letter
indicating that I have reached a limit (two weeks backlog) and can't
help.

I have now debugged some mailing and reposting scripts which
considerably automate the process. That was one of my vacation
projects. That's the good news. The bad news is that my phone rates
just got taxed so more, so while I can send stuff by mail with less of
my effort, it still is subject to the daily limit on how much goes out
of this machine. So don't expect the form letter to go away, it will
just be a little less frequent.

                              Total volume

Looking at the reports of groups by volume, it seems as though this
group could cut down just a hair on posting, which may improve my
ability to repost and fill requests for mailing. I'm beginning to think
that there is no end to the backlog and people send more stuff as I up
the volume, so perhaps a cutback is in order.

                              other stuff

There have been a bunch of interesting things available via ftp
recently, and some of these will be worked into the stream of
submissions so people can keep current of image viewers, and of course
the new version of fractint.
