[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] to shareware authors

mark@urz.unibas.ch (01/08/91)

Dear NETworkers (especially dear shareware authors),

shareware programs often write messages like this:

"...if you like this program, please send 23.45 dollars to this and this
address."

	Sometimes they say more:

"...if you send this money, you will be registered, and will get new
versions. If you send 34.56 dollars, you will get the user manual of
this program."

We have several educational programs (like TEDDY) and want
to distribute their DEMO versions as shareware. We would like to
include messages like quouted in the beginning, but first we want to
know that

	- has somebody any experience, that anyone would send money
after reading messages like this?

	- What are the legal consequences of this thing? How is it
with different currencies? How must one pay tax after it? etc.
