[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] downloading DeskJet fonts

arritt@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu (01/17/91)

The recently-posted utility to convert LaserJet fonts to DeskJet
promises to be very useful. Now, the question is how do I download
the fonts to the dj and get my software to recognize them? For day-to-day
I use the editor in Microsoft Works. (For more complicated stuff I
use TeX and will stick with the default cmr fonts to keep life simple.)

I've seen references such that "you can use the commonly available
utilities to download the fonts", but nothing more specific than that.
The dj manual says that you get the download software and instructions
when you buy HP's soft fonts :-)

I've seen utilities for downloading fonts to the LaserJet, but don't know
whether using these with the DeskJet will turn my entire system into a
pool of molten slag... Thanks for any help you can provide.
