[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Altering Disk Parameters

greene@sequoia.webo.dg.com@RELAY.CS.NET (jon greene) (01/25/91)

I own an NEC Powermate 1+ AT-clone. I would like to add an RLL disk/controller. Unfortunately, the BIOS/Setup program does not support a user-defineable drive type. The tables provided include the MFM version of my disk (a Microscience 1060), but not the RLL version (i.e. only provides for 17 sectors per track rather than 26). Is there a shareware utility I can use to change the parameters in memory? Alternatively, I presumeably could use Debug to do the same thing. Can someone provide a "Reader's Di
gest" description of the procedure or a reference that I could obtain? Thanks.
