[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] ocf.berkeley.edu GNU archives

erc@radon.berkeley.edu (Eric Ng) (01/29/91)

The anonymous FTP site ocf.berkeley.edu (128.32.184.254) seems to be
back up at present. Note that it has just returned after an operating
system upgrade and so it may still be sort of flakey. Please bear with
ocf: the cluster consists of donated workstations run by student
volunteers; as such, maintenance usually takes quite a bit longer than
it would with a cluster run by paid staff.

As a result, the mostly MS-DOS GNU archives on ocf.berkeley.edu are
back up. Available within this archive (found in ~ftp/pub/GNU on ocf)
are the following:

	- two ports of FSF's GNU C compiler (gcc) to MS-DOS, one by
DJ Delorie and the other by Yoshiaki Uchida

	- Thorsten Ohl's GNUish MS-DOS ports

	- Lee F. Kolakowski's port of RCS 4.2 to MS-DOS

	- Russ Nelson's Freemacs (a GNU Emacs-like editor for MS-DOS)

	- and egaint, a nice Tetris-like game for IBM PCs with EGA
	  256k/VGAs

Please note that I am sort of in the process of getting a new version of
Yoshiaki Uchida's gcc port to MS-DOS, so you may want to hold off on
getting that at the moment.

For MS-DOS authors distributing software under copyleft: just because
the Free Software Foundation is basically ignoring you doesn't mean that
everyone else will! Please contact me directly if you are interested in
placing your software within the mostly MS-DOS GNU archives.
