For future reference:  a GIF file is *already* compressed, and gains
(or rather loses) nothing by being processed through ZOO.

  Other than not breaking all the automatic scripts which expect these
postings to be zoo files and unpack them into directories, etc. Also,
since volume ten started, every posting now has a short summary in the
volume header (zoo -v) which describes the contents. I suspect no one noticed.
