[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Routine to stop/start the TIC clock needed

I would like to stop the tic-clock of the PC, by reprogramming
the Timer (No.?). Then I need to restart it later on to tic at the
same original 54.9254 millisec intervals.
Is there an assembler source available anywhere for that?
