There are others of us out here who think you are doing an exellent job as moderator. c.b.i.p. is one of my fovorite groups and I always look forward to new uploads. In my opinion the more posted, the better and I have no problem with putting up with posts that aren't usefull to me (these are obviously unavoidable). How can someone complain about repeates when sometimes days go by without new submissions :-). So, keep them coming and, by all means, post your own software. I don't subscribe to the idea of self- sacrifice, so go ahead and reap some rewards from your thankless work. I assume the person who wrote those comments doesn't remember the time that this group spent un-moderated. Since you have taken over, things have gone smoothly and been well organized. Keep up the good work. -Steven T. Ansell Computer Center Consultant Computing Services U.C.D.

I agree wholeheartedly with Steve Ansell that Bill Davidsen is doing a wonderful job moderating, and that we all owe him and the other moderators gratitude for the enormous amount of time the task takes. I rather apprecia- ted having three viewers show up at once (or was Ian Phillipps complaining about repeat postings of the same viewer?). I downloaded the three and will give each a try. -- Michael Flory (mjf@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu)

[Please see a separate posting apologising to Bill Davidsen] As a point of information, I have made the following submissions to usenet: - A pretty geometric doo-dah of no particular usefulness (posted to comp.sources.misc: free) - An improved version of a port of unix "ed" (sources posted to c.s.m; binaries sent to a previous cpib moderator and never posted, as far as I know - free) - A port of "perl" V3 to DOS. Patches mailed to Larry Wall at his request - I don't know whether his supported version is mine or some better one. Copyleft imposed by Larry. - Bugfix and some improvements to the fdfmt program (patches submitted to author) I we weren't at the wrong end of an expensive mail link from most submitters to the network, I'd be happy to be a moderator. As a user of many cbip programs, I accept them in the spirit in which they are offered, which varies. Ian
