gordy@dorsai.com (Gordy Thompson) (02/19/91)
I'm on a site from which I can't do direct FTP, and have come to rely on BITFTP@pucc.princeton.edu for mail FTP. Today I sent a request for GNU C and C++ (v10i111, dj1bin) and was told that Princeton can't/ won't process requests aimed at Grape because of "protocol problems." Are there other sites like Princeton that process mail requests for third parties? (I know some, like mailserv@garbo.uwasa.fi, will handle requests for _their own_ files, but this is obviously different.) Please email me the equivalent direct address to use for any such sites you know of and I'll post them as one listing in the interests of sparing bandwidth. (BTW, if it's not obvious, I know virtually spit about how this whole Usenet scheme works [I'm a private PC user connecting via a bulletin board that makes periodic connections via uu.psi.com], so please forgive me if this question just asks what "everyone" already knows.) Thanks in advance, Gordy Thompson gordy@dorsai.com ---------------- {cute .sig manually inserted here}
