Since I last posted about latex for the PC, I have been inundated with mail about the subject, so here is a follow up article with corrections and additions: EmTeX (which seems to be the most popular) takes 6 high density floppies plus a few for the printer drivers, and is available at "terminator"'s new site: 141.211.168.70 msdos.archive.umich.edu archive/msdos/TeX/emTeX you should get all 6 "disks" (contained inside subdirectories "diskn" and then read "readme.eng" or "reaadme.ger" on disk1. An alternative to EmTeX is to use TeX (such as SBTEX) and get the following files: lplain.tex, latex.tex, lfonts.tex several .STY files and several fonts for latex then use initex.exe to make lplain.fmt, and put the resulting file into the "formats" directory. to use this version of laTeX, do the following: tex &lplain <filename> it was suggested that 4DOS' alias feature is handy for this calling sequence. phew! many thanks to all. _____________________________________________________________________________ | | | "NUKE THE UNBORN GAY WHALES!" | Jeff Miller | | - graffiti | millerje@handel.CS.ColoState.Edu | |_____________________________________________________________________________|
