I have noted some discussion in this Group regarding Grammar Checking programs. Well since you haven't clarified the purpose of the program, I'll tell you about a program called 'MyStyle'. This program analyses a document in ASCII format and provides information about words, syllables, sentences and paragraphs. Graphical presentation of the frequency of different sizes of each of these is available. Scores covering passive voice, sexist content, active content, personel tone and more is also provided. There are also about a dozen internationally accepted readability indices shown such as FOG, SMOG, Flesch, Spache. The key difference between this program and programs such as GRAMMATIK and RIGHTWRITER is that this program is used to determine the overall readability of a document, not point at problems in every line. In my opinion, the other approach can lead to very choppy and stunted reading. The program is available (surprise, surprise) from me. It has been released as Shareware in Australia, however I have a new version which I will be releasing in the next couple of weeks. If you want a copy from me directly. The cost is $10(AUST) for the Unregistered version (add overseas postage if you want AIRMAIL) and $45(AUST) for the Registered version. There is basically no difference between these apart from documentation. Registered owners will recieve information on updates including a version which will run under Microsoft Windows later in the year. Registering the program means I can eat this week!
