'If They Could See Me Now' from SWEET CHARITY is currently being heard as: "Have a great, great Woman's Day" [magazine]. While I'm not sure who originally recorded it, it has been recorded by Shirley MacLaine and Joel Grey. This second one doesn't exactly fit, but several months back Pachelbel's Canon in D Major was being used as background music for two or three commercials, notably General Electric (before they started bringing good things to living :-).

Other things from Sweet Charity include "Hey Big Spender" for some cigar company (Muriel?) and I believe that "If They Could See Me Now" was used for Oldsmobile several years back. -Ron

Way back in my tv-addicted childhood, I remember "Lemon Tree" being used as the them for Lemon Pledge. Only people who listen to Beautiful Music would know that though.

A few years ago there was a Rice Krispies commercial sung to the tune of "Vesta La Giuppa" from I Paggliacci (please,no flames. I know the spelling is atrocious). It went something like this: MAN : No more Rice Krispies, I've run out of Rice Krispies. My heart will not stop, till I hear that snap, crackle, pop. WOMAN : Here is Rice Krispies MAN (aside) : Its my mother-in-law! WOMAN : I've brought you Rice Krispies. (then something to the effect that shes has come for a long visit) MAN: (in a whisper) Its the thirteenth time so far this year! (cries and then when he finds that shes heard what he's said ,laughs) Jerry Greenberg
