[net.games.trivia] OK, you forced me into it

mat@linus.UUCP (Michael A. Turniansky) (04/12/84)

<I hope you're happy that you started this mess...>

I have not seen the following mentioned:

"This Can't be Love" (from "Boys from Syracuse") => "This Can't be Coffee"
							(Brim)

"I Believe in You" (from "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying")
	=> "I Believe in You, Remington" (Remington Shavers)

"Can-Can" (from "Can-Can") => "(Shop-Rite does the) Can-Can" (Shoprite.  Is
					this local to New York area?)

"Tangerine" => "Figurines" (Carnation?)

	Now then, to the person who started this thing: Well, Dr.
Frankenstein, it appears that your monster has gotten away from you. There
are thousands of commercials produced each year, and I'm willing to bet that
at least 1% of them take songs from other sources. Was there a particular
reason you asked the question, or were you just trying to get activity into
this newsgroup?

Actually, this subject is the brainchild of the special netnews group at
AT&T. After months of research, it was determined that this subject would
generate the most comment, and thus net (a pun intended? ask my shrink) them
the largest margin of profits.

The second most volatile subject is Mr. Martillo on net.comics and
net.flame, and that seems to be working splendidly, too.

I normally don't participate in long-winded discussions on dead topics,
but I'm amazed that no one has yet mentioned the Burger King tune
"Hold the Pickles, Hold the Lettuce," which is a direct ripoff of
the Pachelbel canon (the popular one, most recently used as the sound
track for "Four Seasons", I think).

ron@brl-vgr.ARPA (Ron Natalie <ron>) (05/03/84)

Say what? Hold the phone! While I could sort of sing "hold the pickles"
Say What? Hold the pickles, hold the lettace? Hold the phone. Direct
ripoff? Doesn't sound so to me.
