[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Getting the queue for c.b.i.p

rhys@cs.uq.oz.au (Rhys Weatherley) (03/18/91)

Hi Bill/anyone else who is interested,

Is there any way to find out what is currently waiting on the c.b.i.p queue
to be posted in the near future together with tentative posting dates? At
the moment, things just "magically" appear and there is little warning. Also,
if some queue status was posted one a week/month/... then maybe we can avoid
some "Does anyone know of an XYZ program?" questions since the queue can be
inspected to see if such a thing is already in the pipeline.

I'm posting this request because I feel other people will be interested in
the answer to this question. I have no "burning desire" to know this - I'm
just curious. Please, no "YES WE REALLY WANT THIS" postings until we know
if it possible or not :-) .

Rhys.

Well, I think that the "Horizon effect" of not being able to see far enough
into the future will always be present.

I don't think that someone who is looking for a program would wait for the
weekly queue list before asking their question either.

No. The best you could hope for is a list of submitters. While some
people are nice enough to send me stuff in rational formats with
subjects describing the program and a short description, many arrive
with a subject of "binary submission" or somesuch, and I have no idea
what they are. Also, now that I have a few people willing to take on
reviews of stuff like that, The time to post is always "within one week
of review" and that's not much help.

I hate to take time away from activities which produce postings to make
guesses about what stuff may be, or when the review might complete.
Enjoy the surprises.
