Ive written a program that i wish to put on the net. This program looks
at a files list in the format of filename description ( on a line
by itself ) and keeps a table of these. I use this because I am a BBS
sysop and im too lazy to put descriptions on my files. This program
will look at any files list you can give it and remember whats there.
If oneday, you give it a list with a configurable string like "No Description"
it will look up the table and see if its got a description for it. if so, it
will take out the description for that file, and insert the one it knows.
Theres a way to overwrite what it knows if you ever get a bad description.
I currently keep a copy of my own bbs lists, Simtel-20, and garbo's list
and all those descriptions, plus any of the others i could find, fit into
1 meg of disk space. If anyone is interested in beta testing this for me,
please mail me and ill send you a copy. Its been through every test i can give
it here for over 6 months and i think its ready to be put through more
tests in public.
If this is the wrong group for this kind of post, im sorry, but i thought
as the final version would be posted here anyway, its allright.
