Then obviously you too would benefit from taking a look at the
Frequently Asked Questions.  There is unzip (and lharc) for Unix. 
As to Unix zip it is not available, but there is work on it.  If you
want more information on the zip situation please see the
compression newsgroups.  There has been a number of messages there
on the subject lately.

I have no problem with the telling people where something is approach (instead
of giving them a direct answer) it makes people think a little.  However, isn't
it a little silly to refer someone who is asking about unarchiving programs to an
ARCHIVED faq file???

Not at all in this case. I asked:

I had unarchiving programs for PC, but I just wanted to do it fast
on a Unix machine. (It's  a SPARC w/GB disk vs. 80c88 with a floppy :-)
