I'm fairly sure Elvis' first hit was 'Heartbreak Hotel'.
It certainly preceded 'Hound Dog' and 'Blue Suede Shoes'.
He made several earlier records (on Sun , I think) but they
weren't hits.

btw, if you get a chance, check out the version of 'Blue Suede Shoes'
by Jimi Hendrix. I think it's on "Hendrix in the West".

I believe the Committee's Chief Counsel in the Army-McCarthy hearings was
Robert Welch. Mr. Welch was a partner in the prestigious Boston law firm
Hale and Dorr. The interchange between between Senator McCarthy and Mr.
Welch was the emotional climax of the hearings when McCarthy tried to smear
a young associate in the law firm. "At long last, Senator, have you no
sense of decency?" asked Welch.

There is another interesting trivial fact about Mr. Welch: he played the
judge in the movie of "Anatomy of a Murder."

The Crew Cuts were a white group that covered "Sh-Boom." If I knew the
name of the black group that did it originally, I'd tell you. Help?
