[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] Mouse driver for a joystick

skesterk@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu (Shane Kesterke) (04/14/91)

I apologize if this has been asked before but can anyone direct me to or
send me a mouse driver that will allow joystick input. I have some programs
that would really run nice with a mouse but I don't have the money to
invest in one now.

Please reply by e-mail, thanks!

I would be interested in such a driver as well. I have a 'psuedo-
mouse' which plugs into the joystick port of my Tandy. About the only
program which this works like a real mouse with is DeskMate (which I hardly
ever use). I would break down and buy a real mouse, but then I'd have to
buy a serial port as well, which I don't want to do because I only have one
expansion slot left and I'm saving that for a hard drive controller. So,
please send me any info on such a driver as well (or just post it). Thanks.

If you have an old copy or can get an old copy of Deskmate for the 1000 or
1000 SX, you will find a driver called JOY.SYS. I found that this driver will
allow me to run things like Autocad and PC-Paint using the joystick or
Joymouse<?>. Just copy JOY.SYS to your drive and put DEVICE=JOY.SYS in the
CONFIG.SYS file. I am sorry I cannot find the specifics on which Deskmate
had this driver (It was a long time ago). I do know that the newer Deskmate
now has its own built in drivers (ones after the 1000 SX Family) which leaves
JOY.SYS out.
