I recently obtained ARCE40G.ZIP and noted something strange. Is ARCE the only unarchiver which is archived using a different format? With LHARC, PAK and PKZIP, all of these files were self-extracting files. Why does an un-ARCing utility require an un-ZIPer utility to extract it? -- +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Santanu Sircar BITNET: ssircar@umaecs.bitnet | | University of Massachusetts/Amherst INTERNET: ssircar@ecs.umass.edu | +------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

As soon as a ZIP program is ported to TOPS20, SIMTEL20 will be converting all its ARC files to ZIPs so you won't need an un-ARC program. ARC is now obsolete, having been replaced by ZIP in most applications.
