I have uploaded to SIMTEL20: pd1:<msdos.txtutl> AV-SCR40.ZIP Creates 2 column TV scripts from ASCII text The following are excerpts from the letter accompanying the registered version of AVScripter 4.0: "With this release, I've stopped putting the complete documentation on disk. Instead, unregistered users can print the AVScripter mini-manual; the mini-manual explains basic single-spaced operation of the program but does not reveal all the advanced features." "When you register, I'll send you the latest version on disk, complete documentation explaining all advanced features, a handy command card, and free updates for six months." My comments: The author hopes this will encourage people to register the program. (Of some 300 CompuServe downloads of earlier versions only one has registered) This is a very good program. It will take a specially written ASCII file and write a two column (VIDEO and AUDIO) script (with scene #s) to disk or to a printer. It will also sort scenes by the first video line (i.e. location A, location B, or actor A, actor B, etc) for a shooting schedule breakdown. The AUDIO column can be printed separately for a teleprompter or as a narrator's script. The program is very fast even on my 8088 Zenith laptop. The registered version will also allow additional formatting such as double spacing VIDEO or AUDIO columns or both and changing the width of the columns, full width comment lines etc. The text editor I use is VDE but any editor or word processor producing ASCII will work. The multiple file capability of VDE allows me to see my two column script in one window and the source (ASCII) file in another. Very convenient. Webb V. Turner Jr. wturner@wsmr-simtel20.army.mil
