What you need first is a primer on FTP usage, for example the prerecorded instructions on how to use garbo.uwasa.fi anonymous FTP archives. I'll send them separately to you (or to anyone else who asks for them) by email. When you have looked into the instructions to get the basics, start by getting the /pc/INDEX file list, and then look at the files in the /pc/gif directory. You'll find a number of gif viewers in there.
