[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] COHERENT: Any free software for it ?

lauten@ss7 (Markus Lautenbacher) (04/26/91)

Hi,

I am thinking about buying Coherent from MarkWilliams for my AT286.
Are there any ports of free software to the Coherent operation system
on the IBM PC ? First of all I would be interested in something
[ck]sh - like since sh is okay for scripts but not for interactive
use.

In case there are ports could you please mail to me where to ftp them.

Thanx in advance,
                 MARKUS

P.S.: Is there special newgroup for Coherent stuff ?

Pardon my posting a simple referral, but the mailer doesn't
recognize the domain "ss7" -- Markus Lautenbacher had asked if
there were a newsgroup for the Coherent operating system, a clone
(small) of Unix.

   There's a brand-new newsgroup called comp.os.coherent that covers
the Coherent OS. Right nw they are debating establishing a new binaries
group (comp.os.coherent.binaries or whatever) but for the moment I think
they will just post binaries there, while source can be gotten from there
or from comp.os.minix (Minix is another small Unix clone). Moreover,
there are source and binaries, I believe, available from piggy.ucsb.edu
by anonymous ftp.

I'm not a Coherent user, but I've followed the newsgroup with
interest. Have fun with it!
