[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] .GL and PIC files

Does anyone know how .GL and the .PIC   
files which are inbedded into the .GL
animation files are created as i am trying 
to add them to my own display system.
I would like to know especially on how
to convert them to GIF file.
