[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] NEED: Diskcopy for any type of disk!!

slynchhj@cc.curtin.edu.au (05/28/91)

I need a COPYWRIT.EXE update to handle 80 tracks.

I !!!NEED!!! a program that will copy 3.5" disks (low density) without
worring about whats on the disk. I have many disks from another computer
system that have been almost destroyed by a virus. I want to make coppies
of the disks before I start playing around with whats left so that I don't
risk going from bad to worse and loosing all of the data on them. The only
problem is that the computer system the disk belong too refuses to copy them.
FRUSTRATING!!!. I had a look at a program called COPYWRIT.EXE that a friend
had and it seemed just the perfect thing, it copied disks that an MSDOS wouldn't
read. I was all set to test it on the Amiga disks but big problem, COPYWRIT
only read up to 43 tracks. Are there any updates to this program or any similar
programs? I need one ASAP and I would like to test it before I buy it so a
shareware program available as some FTP site would be best.

Huw

As a technical note, an Amiga and a PC will read eachothers disks. Amiga
disks are 80 track just like MS-DOS.

TeleDisk will do the trick. I was able to copy a Commodore 64/128 disk
from a 1581 drive with it.

The last two versions of CopyWrite handle 80 track disks. The latest version
fixes problems on the faster PS/2s. Buy a copy!
