[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] uudecode and MS-DOG 4.01

sophist@brainiac.raidernet.com (Phillip McReynolds) (06/13/91)

I have just upgraded from MS-DOS 3.3 to 4.01 and, much to my dismay, I
have found that the uudecode I got from cbip doesn't work any more. The
zoo files that are created have invalid headers and the zips result in
the message "No files found."

Is there a bug (or a "feature") in 4.01 that would cause this behavior?
Has anyone else experienced similar difficulties? I have no problem
booting with 3.3 and (after copying the files to a drive with a < 32meg
partition so that 3.3 will find it) uudecoding them that way, but this
is a hassle. If this is a bug, I hope it will be fixed in 5.0.

My system:
DFI 386sx with AMI Bios
MS-DOS 4.01
QEMM v5.11
DESQview v2.26 (although the problem occurs in plain dos as well)
4dos 3.02a
1 32meg RLL hd
1 65meg RLL hd

Config.Sys:
install=d:\bin\share.exe
device=c:\qemm\qemm386.sys ram
device=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:1 c:\X00.SYS E
lastdrive=g
fcbs=20,8
files=8
BUFFERS = 10 /x
stacks=0,0
shell = 4dos.com /P /S:x
device=C:\WINDOWS\smartdrv.sys 512 512
device=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:1 c:\gmouse.sys 2 02F8 3
device=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:1 C:\WINDOWS\ramdrive.sys 540 /e
device=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:1 c:\sys\driver.sys /d:0 /t:40 /f:0
device=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:1 c:\sys\driver.sys /d:1 /t:80 /f:2

Yesterday I made a download of Starter Kit 1.5 and it works well on my system
(386 with AMI-BIOS, MSDOS4.01, 2x105 RRL-HD). Try it and than change your CONFIG.SYS.
Try it without QEMM. I had only problems with it.
