I had asked whether there were any free BGI drivers for SVGA displays to use with GhostScript 2.2. Mike Ressler and Jeff Hartung sent me email about svga256.bgi in the file svgabg21.zip available from wuarchive.wustl.edu in mirrors/msdos/borland and from Simtel in pd1:<msdos.borland>. It's shareware: $20. I tried it -- it works for 800x600x256 mode on my ATI VGA Wonder. Though the GS interpreter's text mode display is a little bit off, the pictures seem fine. (The color palette needs work -- I don't know how to change that yet.) For reference, since the GS documents seem incorrect in a few details, I have environment variables set: BGIUSER=03.svga256, BGIPATH=c:\lib, the driver svga256.bgi in c:\lib, and "\bgi selectdevice" typed at the interpreter loads the driver. ("devicenames ==" gives the list of available devices.) There is also a 16 color BGI driver in the same directory on Simtel that should give 1024x768 on my card, but it doesn't work for me. It's in file svga1601.zip. Greg, lee@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu
