At the recent (in fact, still ongoing) PC Expo '91 in New York, I saw an impressive demonstration of CompuServe's CIM (CompuServe Information Manager) for both Mac and PC. I was impressed enough to buy the package especially since the $25 package comes with a $25 usage credit. Does anyone have any experience with using CIM as compared to AUTOSIG or TAPCIS. CIM does allow off-line reading of mail and forum messages, as well as automatically sending replies. When I questioned the people as the CIS booth yesterday, they said that the main difference is that with TAPCIS, you can download the list of messages or files, logout, and then make your selections off-line; in CIM, the browsing through message titles and selections for downloading must be done online. BUT, it seems to me that that is a very minor difference. After all, how long does it really take to decide what files you want. Finally, CIS writes (or at least directly supports) CIM, so I'd guess it would evolve along with CIS better. SO, overall, I really like CIM. Does anyone know why I should pay $75 to use TAPCIS ???
