[comp.binaries.ibm.pc.d] BBS stuff

andrew@otago.ac.nz (06/26/91)

I'm looking into BBS software for a friend, and have a few questions.

1) There seem to be very few PD BBS systems around, is this because I don't
know where to look or because there isn't much around?

2) What are the opinions of people out there regarding the quality of the
various BBS programs around? Most of the PD systems I have seen seem to be
quick hacks and don't look to me as if they are very functional.

3) Has anyone ever indexed and cross-referenced the postings to c.b.i.p?
(presumably where to get stuff from is in the monthly FAQ).

Thats about all.

Thanks
Andrew

Opus CBCS is Freeware. It is not PD but can be copied and used freely.
Any associated sale is severely restricted. Version 1.20 will be released
July 14th. I have spoken with Keith Petersen about uploading this version
to SIMTEL once it becomes available to me. I also need to check with the
Opus people.

This bbs supports everything needed and has a large number of support
utilities. I use it and can say it is not a hack. There is a development
team that continuously repairs and enhances the software. If you would
like more info, send email or call my board.
