			CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION

			 Workshop on DEDUCTIVE DATABASES
			*********************************

				in conjunction with

			International Logic Programming Symposium
		 	   (ILPS '91), October 28-31, 1991
			      San Diego, California, USA

The central aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers working
on different aspects of deductive databases and logic programming. Recent
years have witnessed a substantial amount of research into various aspects
in these areas giving rise to new technologies. This workshop will emphasize
applications of these technologies as well as implementations of systems.
In addition, we strongly encourage papers describing new directions, some
of which are listed below. The following is a non-exclusive list of topics
of interest to this workshop.

Query Languages Constraint Logic Programming
Query Processing Methods Negation
Query Optimization Quantitative Deductive Databases
Updates Probabilistic Deductive Databases
DATALOG Extensions Integration of Deductive and OODBs
Temporal Reasoning Higher-Order Constructs
Integrity Constraints Intensional Query Answering
Complexity and Expressibility	Applications
				Implementations

The workshop will be informal in character, close interaction being the
major aim. The format will be 20-30 minute presentations with adequate
time for questions and discussions. The workshop will be held immediately
following the conference and the duration will be decided by the extent of
interest. Tentatively, it is planned for a half-day and may extend up to
a day. The exact time as well as the program of the workshop will be
announced subsequently.

SUBMISSIONS: Submissions should present ORIGINAL research not published
elsewhere. Papers describing work in progress are also encouraged. Please
submit 5 copies of an EXTENDED ABSTRACT (maximum 8 double spaced pages)
by AUGUST 15, 1991. The authors' email address(es) must appear on the front
page of the submission. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection
by OCTOBER 1, 1991. In addition, panel proposals are also welcome and are
subject to the same deadlines.

Submissions will be reviewed by:

Francois Bry (ECRC, Germany)
Edward Chan (Waterloo University, Canada)
Hector Hernandez (New Mexico State University, USA)
Alberto Mendelzon( University of Toronto, Canada)

The workshop is open for attendance to all ILPS '91 registrants. However,
in order to facilitate close interaction, we would like to limit the number
of participants to 40. If you are interested in participating in the
workshop, please send email to: daniel@concour.cs.concordia.ca. For further
