[alt.rock-n-roll] HELP ME!!!

Jay-Jay@cup.portal.com (05/17/88)

Poor College Student needs Your Help!! :-(

Hi. I just finished my junior year in college, and now I'm
faced with a major problem. I can't afford to pay for my senior
year. I've tried everything. I can't get any more student loans,
I don't qualify for any more scholarships, and my parents are as
broke as am I. So as you can see, I've got a major problem. But
as far as I can see, there is only one solution, to go forward.
I've come along way, and there is no chance in hell that I'm going
to drop out now! I'm not a quiter, and I'm not going to give up.

But here is why I'm telling you all this. I want to ask a favor of every
one out here on the net. If each of you would just send me a one
dollar bill, I will be able to finish college and go on with my life.
I'm sure a dollar is not much to any of you, but just think how it
could change a person's life. I'd really like to encourage all of you
to help me out, I've no other place to go, no other doors to knock
on. I'm counting on all of you to help me! (PLEASE!)
If you would like to help a poor boy out, please send $1 (you can
of course send more if you want!! :-)

PO BOX 5631

PS. Please don't flame me for posting this to so many conferences,
I really am in dire need of help, and if any of you were as desparate
as I am, you just might resort to the same thing I am.

Hmmm, welcome to alt.begging.

This is cute, but this guy sent his message to every UNIX site in the world.
Watch out for those British pound notes hitting you on the head.

The message was inappropriate. This feels like the PTL Club now.

Why not try the financial aid department of your college. There are plenty
of banks willing to give you a GSL... also, talk to your parents.

Argh!

me too.

i'm just a poor middle-class academic, trying to get by on my meager
research scientist's salary. my wife was forced to become a corporate
lawyer so that we could keep our four-bedroom colonial in the suburbs.

won't you help me acquire the ferraris and art galleries that my
sellout friends are accumulating?

i'm afraid $1 won't cut it -- better make it $100.

thanks!

Look, Pete: it's rough all over. I got $25000 in law school loans to
pay off, the BMW needs work, I need a new VCR (tired of all my Lazerdiscs)
and I don't even have a Colonial anywhere. So in the interest of fair play,
I'm sure you'll generously split your $100 contributions with me.

I thank you. My cat (needs shots) thanks you.

And if he gets it, I'm sure Dave will do the right thing and donate
10-15% of what he receives to the chinet Disk and Trailblazer funds...
Heh heh heh.

Apparently, someone in the consumers conference knows this moron and told the
group the guy owns a BMW.

Maybe this is another one of those messages that are set up to see if any
stupid people out there will send him money.

Probably...

I wrote a note to JJ@cup.portal.com, the same system I am on. Let's hope this
guy knocks it off.

And don't forget the Trailblazer and disk drive fund on Jolnet also. We are just
a free access system trying to pay the enormous phone bills so that other pern's
can have a machine available to them at no cost.

Yes and my cars are junk too!

Gee... if everyone would send me $100 I wouldn't need to get a job.

Since the management of Portal posted to comp.misc the name of the cretin
who posted those "Jay-Jay College Fund" messages, I was instantly reminded
the same scumbag (Rob Noha) posted "chain-letter type" messages to several
BBS systems I operate in the Silicon Valley area (messages which I, as
SYSOP, instantly deleted upon their posting).

Noha has been doing that kind of stuff for about 2 years now; be warned.
