-- Has anyone out there heard of Hawkwind? One of the best live bands Britain has had to offer... I'm recently exiled from England, and had to leave my collection behind... Nobody here (Ontario) even seems to know of their existance... Have they ever played over here since Lemmy left them? Will they again? In desparation, Jon ---- From Dick Puddephatt's band of desparados. Hawkwind blew through the Frisco Bay area about six months ago, so they must still be together in some form of incarnation. But with- out Lemmy's bass providing interstellar propulsion, I figured why bother and kept my craft grounded at home. I'll just wait for the next Motorhead show instead (only next time I'll bring ear-plugs!). Phil Hawkwind blew through the Frisco Bay area about six months ago

Hawkwind are an incredible band and are still going strong after 20 years on the road. Their 20th anniversary concert was held at the Brixton Academy in London last summer and highlighted another shift in the bands musical style, this time towards a more "mellow" mood. A new album is expected soon, featuring Simon House's violin instead of Lloyd Langton's guitar. I had heard that they had toured the states last year and were releasing a single for US consumption only. If anyone knows what the single was, then please tell me!! Hawkwind are only one of the new age/experimental/psychedelic bands that are playing in England at the moment. Has anyone heard of: Ozric Tentacles, Voodoo Child, The Magic Mushroom Band, The Here and Now Band, The Invisible Opera Company of Thibet or Tubilah Dog. If not, check them out! Simon.
