Call For Papers

Distributed/Parallel Simulation
Part of the 1989 Eastern Multiconference
March 28-31, 1989
Tampa, Florida

All papers related to the execution of continuous or discrete event
simulation programs on multiple processor computing systems are invited.
Papers may deal with simulation on systems ranging from geographically
distributed computing systems to tightly coupled multiprocessors
and SIMD machines. Specific topics of interest include, but are not
limited to:

* Methods for distributed, concurrent simulation, both discrete event and
  continuous

* Concurrent simulation methods for particular classes of systems
(e.g., neural networks, electronic circuits, weather, computer systems
  and communication networks, military applications)

* Concurrent graphics and animation for simulation

* Concurrent real time simulations (e.g., flight simulators, robot control)

* Machine architectures for concurrent simulation

* Programming constructs and languages for concurrent simulation

* Performance evaluation methods for concurrent simulation

* Empirical performance evaluation studies

Is there a mailing list for users of the SIMSCRIPT II.5 from CACI? I
would like to learn from the experiences of SIMSCRIPT users, in
particular for Sun machines. Also, if somebody out there is using the
COMNET II.5 from CACI too, please let me know.
Thanks a lot.

Back in the late 60's and early 70's, your chemical engineering department
had analog and hybrid computers. They might be a good place to start.

IBM's CSMP Continuous Systems Modeling Program and others have largely
replaced most analog computer applications.

EAI's "Handbook of Analog Computation" and "Basics of Parallel Hybrid
Computation" will be useful to you. You will also find the Burr-Brown book
"Operational Amplifiers: Design and Applications" and the "Nonlinear Circuits
Handbook" by Analog Devices handy.

I learned more about the tuning of feedback control systems using an analog
computer in repetitative operation mode in one afternoon than most people
learn in months of control theory classes.

I saw the request from Mr. Shu about wanting to get directions for
readings or general discussions of articles on simulation. Like
Mr. Shu, I am particularly interested in the topic of simulating
combat between ground troops but at the battalion level. Any
direction you could give would be greatly appreciated. Please
send any responses to the address below:

	goldston@uncmed (usenet) or
	goldston@med.unc.edu (internet)

Thanks in advance.

I just wonder how many of You out there in netland who are programming
your simulation problems in Simula?

Simula is (for who all of you doesn't know...) the oldest OOPLanguage
in the programming world. As you hear of the name, Simula is desiged
for simulation-problems. Therefore I would recommend all
unix\-SUN\Simula-Compiler to contact Lund Software House for code.

Contact person: boris@dna.lu.bse

PS: I rather use C++, if I only had the latest version ofthecompiler ...
