Today I attempted to send something to a site in the new US domain. We run all the good mail programs here and we're also on the internet. We're running the latest bind and sendmail from ucbarpa. However, when I attempted to send something to chinet.chi.il.us, it got bounced back from sendmail with a 'host unknown' error message. Is there anything I need to do so that sendmail and/or bind can look up mx records for the US domain. Or have the sites in that domain not properly registered yet?? BTW, I ran sendmail with the -bt option and found that mail is sent to US domain sites the same way as the usual COM or EDU sites. Thanks. Chinet jumped the gun and starting using its domain name before its
registration had been confirmed by the .US authority.

If you want to see the important differences, run the queue with
"/usr/lib/sendmail -q -v -d8.1".

Evan, someone at UIUC told me you'd left ND. Maybe he just meant you
weren't running netnews any more. Or maybe he was wrong.

Well, basically, chinet ain't registered. Try to pull the MX records for killer.dallas.tx.us. If THAT doesn't work you've got problems. -- Bill Wisner / wisner@killer.dallas.tx.us / +1 208 286 7929
